Fresh fruits and vegetables are rich in essential goodies for our mental health!

A sufficient amount of vitamins, minerals and trace elements out of fresh fruits and vegetables supports our mental health. Studies in big American Psychiatric Hospitals showed that lots of their patients had a complete and longstanding undersupply of distinctive vitamins and minerals - the intake of psychotropics like antidepressants worsens that lack because they act like bloody robbers! Just to give you an idea of what we´re talking about: In a big psychiatric hospital in New York 50% of the patients had a lack in folic acid, 90% in thiamin (B1), 20% in vitamin E, 15% a striking vitamin C deficiency – 40% had 2  and 15% 3 different lacks in vitamins at once.

What can be the effects out of this undersupply (some examples):

-          missing vitamin B6 can cause depression, a lack of concentration and certain types of schizophrenia

-          a lack in biotin can lead to major depression and insomnia

-          too little niacin weakens the nervous system

-          missing minerals encourage anxiety and depression

-          vitamin C deficiency not only weakens our immune system but also our memory and disturbs the synthesis of 2 important neurotransmitters (norepinephrin und serotonin) – which can cause depression, chronic fatigue and personality changes
